Conferences

Every two years, APFEI runs an international conference known as the Asia Pacific Conference on Educational Integrity (or the APCEI conference). These conferences are hosted by universities and are an exciting opportunity to network with other academics, scholars and practitioners from a range of disciplines and background, all with a shared interest in fostering the development of academic integrity.

Previous conferences have provided opportunities for presenters to give workshops, present papers and be published in conference proceedings, with attendees from Australia, New Zealand, the USA, Canada, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Hong Kong and China.

Academic Integrity and the Public Good
Academic integrity is crucial not only for safeguarding the integrity of knowledge creation and dissemination, but is also foundational in establishing the public trust that society needs to operate. The theme of the 8APCEI conference – Academic Integrity as a Public Good – emphasises academic integrity as a society-wide issue which has a strong influence on ethical practices within professions, industry and business, government and public institutions.

WRITE 2017

Sunday, 26 March 2017 – Tuesday 28th March 2017
Bangkok, Thailand

Please note: this conference has been postponed until later in 2017 or 2018 due to unforseen local circumstances. The announcement will be updated as news comes in.

Building on the foundations of the International Integrity and Plagiarism Conference (IIPC) which, over the past 12 years,  has built up an impressive reputation as a forum for presenting innovative research and key debates in the field of academic integrity, WRITE2017 will consider the impact of technology on writing development, scholarly research and academic integrity in the global education landscape.

This international conference is coordinated by Turnitin in collaboration with APFEI, who will co-coordinate the academic integrity stream of the conference.   The call for papers open until 10th October 2016 at http://writeconference.com/

Higher education and academic integrity are both at a crossroads, as academic integrity policies and practices are struggling to keep up with new technologies, the explosion of opportunists working in the online cheating industry, and the shifts in understandings about plagiarism, copying and appropriation in popular culture.  At the same, the broader educational integrity of universities is itself being questioned, particularly regarding the recruitment of international students and the exploitation of sessional teaching staff.
